Benefit for the Hoosier Burn Camp and sponsored in part by Station 150 Fire and Iron Firefighter's Motorcycle Club. Takes place at Todd's Townley Tavern (old 30 and 101 outside New Haven). Training on the new TFT Equipment at Station # 3 12:30 and 19:00 hours on April 22, 2008

A Semi tractor struck a cement bullard and caused significant damage to the 2007 Freightliner. The accident occurred on the property of General Mills warehouse on Pleasant Center Road. A ruptured fuel tank spilled approx. 160 gallons of diesel fuel which went into the storm drains and into a retention pond. District personnel had to place absorbent booms in the waterway along with stabilizing the large spill area.

Station 2 personnel responded to a call for assistance from Norfolk Southern after one of their locomotives ran low on water. Tank 153 responded to Thomas Road and refilled the locomotive so that it could complete it's journey. Photo by E. Fetcho.

Rescue 58, E-255, E-55 and Fire 51 assisted Poe F.D. at Bluffton Rd. and Yoder Rd. The accident resulted in serious injuries to three people with two being airlifted to Parkview Hospital. Rescue 58 assisted with extricating one of the passengers. Engine 101 crew extricated the passenger of one of the other vehicles involved.

District personnel responded to four MVA's during a busy morning commute. All four accidents occurred within a one hour period. Two of the four accidents resulted in minor injuries.

A two vehicle MVA occured at 1 p.m. resulting in one patient being transported with serious injuries. Two other occupants refused ambulance transportation. The accident occured during a downpour. Fire 51 along with E-255 and E55 responded.

Three people were injured, one seriously when a pick-up truck they were riding in struck a tree at Conners Rd. and Yoder Rd. The Poe Fire Department along with the District responded to the accident at 1:56 p.m.

A semi truck hualing crushed vehicles to a scrapyard rolled over when exiting I-69 onto I-469 at 11:56 a.m. The driver recieved moderate injuries and several lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours.

Slippery roads resulted in two vehicles ending up in the canal that runs along side Yohne Road. A silver vehicle slid while rounding a slight curve in the roadway and narrowly missed hitting a tree. The vehicle slid down the embankment and into the water, however the driver was able to exit the vehicle with no injuries. Almost immediately after, a second vehicle slid at the same curve and went off the roadway. This vehicle traveled approximately 200' before striking a tree and coming to rest with the passenger side of the car in the water. The driver of this vehicle recieved minor injuries but was unable to get out of the vehicle. E-55, Rescue 58 along with Engine 251 responded and were able to remove the patient after stabilizing the vehicle.

Engine 151 began it journey to it's new home in Illinois. The 1991 Pierce was traded-in as part of our purchase of two new Crimson-Fire Engines. It's twin Engine 251 will remain in active service with the district.

A multi vehicle MVA occurred on I-469 at the 7 mile marker resulting in minor injuries. Rescue 58 along with Emergency 255 handled.

District personnel responded to a MVA with entrapment on Bluffton Road just north of Winters Road. Four patients were transported with minor injuries.

Congratulations go out to Bruce MacPherson (MacDaddy), Larry Winget and Dave Redding on having over 35 years of service. All three members were honored at the Districts annual Christmas Party.

Lettering and striping is just about complete on the two new Crimson engines. Equipment mounting along with training remains. It is expected the new trucks will be placed in-service sometime in December.

Two vehicles collided on Interstate 69 at the 94 mile marker southbound after one vehicle attempted to make a U-turn. Both occupants recieved minor injuries as a result.

Two persons suffered minor injuries after their vehicles collided at Indianapolis and Yoder Roads. Rescue 58, Fire 51 and Emergency 255 handled the call.

District firefighters were dispatched to Pleasant Center Road near the General Mills warehouse on a reported unknown type fire. Reported about midnight by motorist, it was soon determined to be a house fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully engulfed vacant farmhouse. Engine 251 laid a supply line to truck 57 which went to work extinguishing the blaze. Poe Fire along with Aboite Twp. were placed on stand-by during the fire. There were no injuries.

We are happy to announce that after forty years, the original Wayne Township Pumper #1 has returned home. The pumper was purchased new in 1941 and was the original engine to respond out of what is now Southwest Station 1, located in Waynedale. The 41 still has some of the Wayne Twp. markings on it. According to records the Alf was replaced in 1967. From there we're not sure of all the travels this truck made but we do know it made it to Texas and Arkansas. It was purchased from Jerald Burns from Palestine, AR. Jerald collects antique fire equipment and contacted us when he added the 41 to his collection. Jerald was kind enough to deliver the truck to us and we certainly appreciate all his help to bring the truck back home. As the truck progresses, we will post more articles on the web site. When finished, the 41 will return to it's original bay located at the rear of Station #1.
